Sony’s new NW-A840 Series Walkman is scheduled for release later this month – and this feature-rich MP3 player just might make converts out of some Nano loyalists.
The compact NW-A840 series Walkman is the thinnest Sony has ever produced, at just 7.2mm thick. The 2.8” OLED screen provides stunning video, and a new feature for the Walkman is its video output capability (standard definition 720×480). Battery life is impressive too – rated at 29 hours of music playback, or 9 hours of video.
The Walkman really steps up in the memory department: it will be available in 16G, 32G, and 64G versions. By my reckoning, that’s up to 16,000 songs, or 64 hours of video for the 64G version.
If you somehow manage to run out of recorded music, don’t worry – the Walkman gives a nod to its ‘80s roots with an integrated FM radio. It also features digital noise canceling, and comes standard with Sony’s excellent MDR-EX300SL earphones.
The Sony NW-A840 series Walkman will be released on October 31. Prices will start at approximately $260 for the 16G model, ranging up to about $440 for the 64G version.
